Spring came by today and no one noticed
Oh, we knew it was there..we’d heard the news from the mailman who’d been out there and seen it… And we intended…we truly did intend to step outside and say hello But …in a minute…when we get to it…in a bit. Spring came by today and no one noticed… Except the garbage man, except Angela who jogs alone, except the birds. Surely…surely we thought, if it’s here, then..well, it will stay.. And on another day, less busied, we shall greet it properly With a morning yawn, a quick stroll, and perhaps a prayer. But Springs, it seems, do not stay where no welcome is found A Spring moves quietly on without a proper Hello and Good to See You Spring left. At least for a bit and at least ‘til now. We promise..we vow with a sideways glance of cowardice…We pledge that when it comes again we’ll treat it better. Spring came by today and no one noticed…
