Ellie and God, PAC III, 3
Cue: Hope and Christine & Guitar player
ELLIE: Here we are again, Lord.
GOD: Here we are again.
ELLIE: I love this part of the weekend.
GOD: Me too. Do you remember the first time you came up here to pray at the end of camp?
ELLIE: Sure do.
GOD: Tell me about it.
ELLIE: (you do)
GOD: I remember that night. Hey….it might be fun to ask around….see who else remembers a great night up at the altar.
ELLIE: Ask around?
GOD: Yeah…go ahead. Ask somebody what they remember when they prayed up here at the end of camp.
ELLIE: Well…okay. (you pick these people out ahead of time and tell them what you’ll be asking) ______________? What do you remember? (they answer, then) _________________, what do you remember? (they answer, then you say…) I like that.
GOD: I do, too. Hey…I’ve got idea. Want a little history lesson?
ELLIE: What?
GOD: It was like….over a hundred and fifty years ago a mother wrote a song for her daughter who wasn’t feeling well.
ELLIE: I think that was before my time.
GOD: (laughs) Yes, I think it was. You heard of President Kennedy?
ELLIE: Sure.
GOD: His boat was hit by a torpedo during the war. When the Marines found him and picked him up they sang this song.
ELLIE: I’m still clueless.
GOD: I’ll bet your own mother knows the song.
(Christine comes out of the audience and up to Ellie as she sings)
CHRISTINE: (singing) Jesus loves me, this I know.. For the Bible tells me so… Little ones to him belong… They are weak, but he is strong.
(Christine takes Ellie to the altar to pray)
HOPE: (and others join in) Yes, Jesus love me… Yes, Jesus loves me… Yes, Jesus love me… The Bible tells me so.
HOPE: Jesus loves me—He who died Heaven’s gate to open wide; He will wash away my sin, Let His little child come in. ALL: Yes, Jesus love me… Yes, Jesus loves me… Yes, Jesus love me… The Bible tells me so.
HOPE: Jesus loves me -- - - He will stay Close beside me all the way, Let this feeling never end As I pray here with my friend. ALL: Yes, Jesus love me… Yes, Jesus loves me… Yes, Jesus love me… The Bible tells me so.
(You and your mom leave whenever you’re finished.)
