Ellie and God, PAC IV, 1
ELLIE: Hi God.
GOD: There’s my girl.
ELLIE: I’ve been thinking.
GOD: Good for you.
ELLIE: I think this is my favorite time of the year.
GOD: I was thinking the same thing, Ellie.
ELLIE: And I think I know one of the reasons.
GOD: What’s that?
ELLIE: Some of my heroes growing up…some of the people I’ve always looked up to… they’re sitting out there right now. Once a year I get to see them.
GOD: Good.
ELLIE: Is that okay, God? To have heroes? I know I’m supposed to worship You. So what about having others heroes?
GOD: Like who?
ELLIE: Oh gosh…so many. (a beat, then) Maddy. She’s in my youth group at church. I’ve always admired her.
GOD: Good choice. Who else?
ELLIE: I guess Brock…the way he’s so kind to people. He’s sorta like Christ to a lot of kids.
GOD: Thank you.
ELLIE: Huh?
GOD: I did that.
ELLIE: Oh.
GOD: So ask them.
ELLIE: Ask who?
GOD: Ask them who their Christian heroes are.
ELLIE: Maddy?
(Maddy responds telling of a Christian role model of hers and why)
ELLIE: Brock?
(Brock responds)
ELLIE: (when Brock’s done) Cool.
GOD: Heroes can have heroes....and there’s nothing wrong with having Christian role models. The Bible’s full of them.
ELLIE: I guess so.
GOD: Want to know how they got that way?
ELLIE: Sure.
GOD: Maddy didn’t try to be a role model….at least not on purpose. Brock didn’t apply for the job. So ask them what happened.
ELLIE: Maddy?
MADDY: I just got closer to God…it just happened.
ELLIE: Brock?
BROCK: Me too. I didn’t even know it was happening. I still don’t.
GOD: Look at your hands, Ellie. (you does) Those are mine. Look at your feet. (you do) Those are mine, too. And those are the only hands…those are the only feet I have here on Earth. If you aren’t me to other people, then…well…
ELLIE: Who will?
GOD: Yeah. Who will?.... We’re at PAC, Ellie. Talk to people…learn from them. . . love them. And then, Ellie?
ELLIE: Yeah?
GOD: You’ll be my hero.
(you exit)
