Travis: (running in, shouting to unseen others) Hey guys! Come on!
God: Hey Trav!
Travis: (stopping) Huh?
God: How ya been?
Travis: God! Hey, it’s you again! Cool! Gosh, I’ve missed you!
God: I know.
Travis: Okay…I recognize that tone.
God: I know.
Travis: Look Lord, you just don’t know how hard it is to be a Christian at school. I mean, no offense, but you should have been there. (a long silence) That was really stupid, wasn’t it?
God: Yep. Really stupid.
Travis: So… What have you got in mind this weekend?
God: Everything/
Travis: Huh?
God: Everything, Travis. You know your problem?
Travis: I got a feeling you’re gonna tell me.
God: That’s how I got to be God. You pray too little.
Travis: Wait a minute! I mean, I hate to disagree with God, but I pray all the time! Heck, why am I telling you? You were there!
God: You pray too little, Trav. You pray for the little things. I want you to ask me for everything.
Travis: Well, you see Lord, there are some things I’d rather not ….well, you know..
God: Rather not talk to me about?
Travis: Yea. That’s it.
God: You have any idea how that hurts me? You ever had a friend who kept secrets from you?
Travis: Yea. It hurts.
God: That’s how I feel. ……….Hey Trav, you’ve got another chance this weekend. It’s a great place to start all over. That’s why you come, isn’t it?
Travis: Well, that and Rick’s spaghetti.
God: Don’t forget the salad. God likes salad.
Travis: (a beat, then) Lord, this is gonna be a great weekend for me…
God: ………(a beat, then) Me too, Trav. And remember… everything. Don’t pray…little. Give it all to me.
Travis: Even……….?
God: You think some things are too big for me?
Travis: Nothin’s too big for you, Lord.
God: Then act that way, okay? I want to be more than Lord, Travis. I want to be your friend. Think you can handle that?
Travis: Cool. I think I’m gonna like that a whole lot.
God: And remember…big things..little things.. I want to handle them all.
Travis: Even the salad. PAGE
