JOHN: Hey God.
GOD: Hey John.
JOHN: It’s the funniest thing.
GOD: What’s that?
JOHN: So many times when I’m here at PAC…and I’m surrounded by my friends and all my new friends…
GOD: Yeah?
JOHN: I think about my Grandpa.
GOD: Really?
JOHN: Yeah.
GOD: Wayne. He was a good friend of mine. ..and a funny guy.
JOHN: (If you have another story to start with…something involving you and Wayne, put it here, then….) When I was little we’d pull up to a stoplight and I didn’t realize that he was watching the cross lights…He’d wait ‘til the other light turned yellow then he’d (snap) snap his fingers and the light would change. I always thought it was him.
GOD: I remember.
JOHN: So why do I always think of him at PAC?
GOD: Because he prayed for you…ever since the day you were born.
JOHN: Really?
GOD: Everyone in this room is here because someone…sometime…somewhere prayed for them. You’re getting older…going to college…but it’s still your job to pray for those I put on your heart.
JOHN: Yeah.
GOD: So who have I put on your heart this weekend?
JOHN: So many.
GOD: That’s okay. Name one…
JOHN: Well…my buddy Kyler.
GOD: Good choice. Have you prayed for him?
JOHN: Yeah. A lot. I got to know him this summer. We’ve hung around a little. He’s a pretty cool friend of mine.
GOD: That…that still doesn’t exactly explain why you’ve prayed for him.
JOHN: It’s…I don’t know…it’s strange. Sometimes…sometimes somebody just comes into my life and something tells me…
GOD: …Something?
JOHN: (a beat, then) …and You tell me…You tell me to pray for them.
GOD: You looked up to your grandpa, John. And you knew that he loved me. And so…
JOHN: …and so I loved you.
GOD: Yeah. It’s all about love…mine for you. Yours for me.
JOHN: (a beat then) Kyler…would you come up here a minute? (and we hope he does) (When he gets there, you tell him you love him then you pray for him. Then keep ahold of him and keep him up there with you.) At the end of the prayer: “This is about as good as it gets, Lord.”)
GOD: …and tonight…tonight it’ll get even better….for everyone.
JOHN: Snap.
GOD: Snap. (You exit with him.)
