Joel and God, I, 3
JOEL: (walks in, looks around, then) Last night.
GOD: Yep.
JOEL: It’s been great.
GOD: No kidding. What’d you like best?
JOEL: Man, it’s hard to pick something out…it’s all be so good.
GOD: So pick a couple.. Where’d you see Jesus this weekend?
JOEL: Well….(name a time)
GOD: Yeah…good choice. But the trouble is, you only got to see a part of what I did this weekend. Ask around …see what else happened.
JOEL: Now?
GOD: You busy?
JOEL: No….no, I came here to talk to you…
GOD: And I came here to listen…so ask around… pick somebody out. Ask them where they saw God working this weekend. Go ahead..
JOEL: (pick out someone…probably a staff member is safest…ask them…let them respond) (then) Cool.
GOD: Pick another one.
JOEL: (do so..adlibbing…ask another person) Thanks, __________.
GOD: Pretty neat, huh?
JOEL: You know God. I wish I could keep this feeling forever.
GOD: You can. In fact, it can get even better.
JOEL: But how…
GOD: Ask people, Joel. Ask people who know Christ as their Savior. Don’t be embarrassed. Just walk right up to them and say, “Hey..I need a little lift today. What’s God done in your life lately?”
JOEL: And they’ll answer?
GOD: Maybe…and if they don’t, then at least you’ve got them thinking. Imagine…imagine going through your whole day, Joel, when you had to be ready for somebody to come up at any minute and ask what it’s like knowing me.
JOEL: I’d…uh…I’d have to be thinking about you all the time.
GOD: Yeah.
JOEL: (a long beat) And that’s the idea, right?
GOD: That’s the idea. I call it “praying without ceasing.” God…24-7.
JOEL: “God…24-7.” I like that.
GOD: So…you ready to answer that question?
JOEL: Now?
GOD: You busy?
JOEL: No..I mean…but right now?
GOD: Hey ____________ (I’ll call someone in the audience) .. .ask him.
JOEL: This uh…this wasn’t in my script.
GOD: Ask Joel….ask him if it makes any difference having me in his life. (the person from the audience will ask what it’s like knowing the Lord…and then you’ll answer..in other words, you’ll give your testimony)
JOEL: (after you’ve finished) (a beat, then) That felt pretty good.
GOD: You should have seen it from up here. Awesome. And remember….
JOEL: God…24-7.
GOD: Be ready. (Joel exits)
