John and God, I, 1
JOHN: Hey God.
GOD: Hi John.
JOHN: We’re back.
GOD: I know.
JOHN: Feels good, doesn’t it?
GOD: The best.
JOHN: I was watching everybody come in the morning….and I was wondering. . .
GOD: Yeah?
JOHN: Do they….I mean, do they have any idea what you’ve got planned for them this weekend?
GOD: Do you?
JOHN: Do I what?
GOD: Do you know what I’ve got planned?
JOHN: Well…I mean, I know the schedule.
GOD: Good.
JOHN: But…well…no. I really don’t know what you’ve got in mind for this weekend.
GOD: And that’s okay.
JOHN: It is?
GOD: Sure. Because you’d probably be wrong. So….what’d you see this morning…..out there in the parking lot?
JOHN: (talk about some things that happened when the staff greeted the campers…name names) (end with….) It’s one of my favorite parts of camp….meeting everybody…especially all the first-time campers.
GOD: You remember your first PAC?
JOHN: Oh yeah. I remember coming into the parking lot… (then describe what happened…end with…) I’ll never forget it.
GOD: It’s funny, isn’t it?
JOHN: What’s that?
GOD: How we remember our “first” things . . . your first camp, your first ballgame, your first bicycle..
JOHN: Yeah…
GOD: Your first girl friend.
JOHN: I had two at once.
GOD: I remember. Not cool.
JOHN: Not cool.
GOD: And the first time you really talked to me.
JOHN: And the great thing…it never gets old…talking to you out here…. It seems like everything I do gets old after a while…but it’s never like that with you.
GOD: It’s like I’m new every morning.
JOHN: Cool. You should write that down.
GOD: I did. It’s in your Bible.
JOHN: Oh.
GOD: That’s okay. Ask ___________.
JOHN: ____________?
IN AUDIENCE: From Lamentations. “God’s love can’t run out. It’s new every morning.”
JOHN: I like that.
GOD: So every time you pray with somebody I speak to you in a new way. I’m always changing…and I’m always the same.
JOHN: How does that work?
GOD: Trust me.
JOHN: Then I can’t wait…I can’t wait to pray with new people in my life…
GOD: Then don’t.
JOHN: Huh?
GOD: Don’t wait. Do it now.
JOHN: Just pick somebody?
GOD: Look out there…. I’ll show you who.
(Go to a new or semi-new camper…take their hands and pray for them aloud.)
GOD: I like that. So, John…what do you have planned for today?
JOHN: I guess that’s up to you.
