John and God, PAC IV, 1
JOHN: Hey Lord?
GOD: Hi John. How’s your day?
JOHN: Cool. I’ve been collecting stuff.
GOD: Really?
JOHN: Sorry. I’m a collector.
GOD: Are we missing any silverware?
JOHN: No…I do it everywhere I go. Whenever I want to bring something back home with me. …sort of keep the feeling. Did you see my wand?
GOD: (laughing) Yes, I remember your wand.
JOHN: We were out in ________ last summer and this weird guy tried to sell me a magic wand.
GOD: Tried? He did sell it to you.
JOHN: I know. I mean, I knew it was dumb and fake but this guy was convinced it was magic so I bought it. It’s a good memory of the trip.
GOD: John, you’re one of my favorite goofballs.
JOHN: Thanks. So I’ve been collecting stuff from PAC…you know, just dumb stuff to remind me of camp.
GOD: Okay. What have you collected so far?
JOHN: (You bring out of your pockets some dumb things you’ve picked up around camp that remind you of what’s been happening. Describe them as you pull them out..maybe 3 or 4 things. End with “Cool collection, huh?”)
GOD: I love it. Dumb, but I love it. So…what do you remember from last year’s camp?
JOHN: Last year?
GOD: Yeah. What memories do you have of last year’s PAC?
JOHN: Gosh…that’s been….I don’t know…
GOD: A year ago.
JOHN: Oh …yeah. Memories, huh? Well…I prayed with my friend Phillip.
GOD: Yeah…
JOHN: And the campfire. This one girl got up and said she wished she could keep this feeling all year long and I was thinking the same thing.
GOD: Good…
JOHN: And the final altar…I remember that really well. This kid…I hardly knew him…we’d maybe spoken just a couple times all weekend. He came up and asked me to pray with him. I was so happy…made me cry.
GOD: Me too.
JOHN: Wow. I hadn’t thought about that stuff in a long time.
GOD: But you collected them.
JOHN: Yeah. I guess I did.
GOD: John, that’s a great collection of _____ and _______ and _______ but the really cool stuff you’re collecting….they’re in your heart, aren’t they?
JOHN: I guess so.
GOD: So…..what are you collecting right now?
JOHN: Now?
GOD: Tell me about some memories you’re collecting…something you can take home with you.
JOHN: Well….(talk about some spiritual moments you’ve had at camp so far.. Maybe Thursday night praying with the staff, something from your small group, talking to a camper…End with “I guess I’m still collecting, huh?”)
GOD: Yeah. Yeah John, you’re still collecting. You can take this feeling with you, John. As long as you have a memory…as long as you can pray.
JOHN: (a long beat, then you smile) Did I ever tell you about my magic wand?
GOD: John?
JOHN: Yeah?
GOD: Get out of here. (You smile and leave)
