LAURA: Hey Lord.
GOD: Hi, Laura. A good day.
LAURA: Yeah..one of the best.
GOD: I’m glad you stopped to talk. I’ve been meaning to tell you something.
LAURA: Sure.
GOD: It’s so hard to talk to people when they don’t stop to talk, you know.
LAURA: Gotcha.
GOD: The dances this weekend….
LAURA: Yeah?
GOD: Great. …the campers, the counselors…all dancing together. I gotta tell you, I really like dance.
LAURA: Thanks, Lord.
GOD: No, I mean I REALLY like dance. It’s one of the most beautiful things I ever created.
LAURA: I think so, too.
GOD: I can tell.
LAURA: Really?
GOD: Yeah…when I watch you dance.
LAURA: Thanks. (a beat) I’m sorry. This is embarrassing.
GOD: Get used to it. I’m God. I can do that. Remember when you began?
LAURA: Dancing?
GOD: Yeah.
LAURA: I remember. All arms and legs and all I could think about was ….
GOD: …was how you looked.
LAURA: Yeah.
GOD: But it’s not like that now.
LAURA: I know.
GOD: At camp…when I watch you dance at college…you’re doing all the right steps, but sometimes…..many times…you’re not thinking about yourself.
LAURA: (a beat, then) I’m thinking about you.
GOD: And when you do…when you perform and you think about me…well, it’s the most beautiful show in the world. Hey…I’ve got a surprise for you.
LAURA: What?
GOD: Listen to this…..(pick out a song from Les Miz (or anything else you choose…find it and give it to the sound people…it begins playing)
LAURA: Oh my gosh…I love that song.
GOD: Me too.
LAURA: But….
GOD: Dance…dance it for me, Laura. Dance it for God….Go ahead….and make it a prayer.
(at the end of the song) GOD: Amen.
