LAURA: Lord?

GOD: Hi, Laura.

LAURA: I love it here.

GOD: Me too….feels good, doesn’t it?

LAURA: Yeah.

GOD: Met anybody interesting?

LAURA: Lots of ‘em.

GOD: Like who? Name names.

LAURA: (name some new people you’ve met or campers who are new to PAC) _______

GOD: Yeah. Some of my favorites.

LAURA: So I was thinking…

GOD: Yeah?

LAURA: I wonder if they have any idea.

GOD: About what?

LAURA: When I first came to PAC I met so many people for the first time….and now I look back and those are some of my best friends.

GOD: Cool.

LAURA: But not just friends…..Even now...ten years later…they’re people who I can pray with…who I can ask to pray for me.

GOD: Makes you wonder, doesn’t it? Looking into those faces right now…wondering which people you barely know but someday….someday they’ll be friends in Christ for life.

LAURA: It’s amazing. It’s like an extra little perk we get at camp.

GOD: No.

LAURA: Huh?

GOD: Sorry Laura. It’s not an “extra” and it’s not a “little perk.” It’s a necessity.

LAURA: Really?

GOD: Would I lie?

LAURA: Oh. I forgot.

GOD: You want to stay close to me, right? You want to keep this feeling that you’ve got right now?

LAURA: Yeah….more than anything, Lord.

GOD: Then you need to pray….

LAURA: Yeah…

GOD: Read my word…

LAURA: Okay.

GOD: But there’s one more thing.

LAURA: Fellowship.

GOD: Bingo. And that’s what you see out there right now….look into those faces….those are the faces of the people who are going to help keep you close to me. Know what? You’re lazy.

LAURA: Huh?

GOD: Sorry. I love you, but you’re lazy. You think that Christian friendships just happen. Sometimes you get busy and don’t do much to keep them going. Oh, you don’t mean to hurt them, but you just don’t keep in touch.

LAURA: (a beat, then) You’re right.

GOD: I know. I’m God. Laura, a Christian friendship takes work. You can’t ignore people for long periods of time and expect the friendship to stay strong. You’ve got to…well….you’ve got to care.

LAURA: And I don’t always….

GOD: No. Not always. Look…make it a priority this weekend, okay? Don’t just meet people…start a relationship…. with me in the middle.

LAURA: (a beat, then) The three of us. I like that.

GOD: Yeah..yeah, me too. So get started.

LAURA: Now?

GOD: You got someplace you need to go?

LAURA: Oh. Sorry.

GOD: Look out there….find someone who you barely know….and start something….go pray with them.

LAURA: (a beat, then) I think I can do this.

GOD: I know you can do this.

(Go into the audience, take hands with someone and have them stand, then pray for them…..then walk off)
