PAC IV, 1
(You need to cue Lane, Emma, and Hannah ahead of time.) BRENAN: Hey God.
God: Hi Brenan.
BRENAN: You got a minute?
God: Eternity. Go ahead.
BRENAN: I was just thinking this morning. . .you know, when I was watching the campers come in.
God: Yeah?
BRENAN: Back to when I was a first time camper. I was looking at these kids and trying to remember how I felt.
God: I remember. You were nervous. You used to get nervous a lot. Remember that?
BRENAN: Yeah. I do. A lot.
God: So back when you were new at camp, who brought you?
BRENAN: Who brought me?
God: Yeah. Who got you here?
BRENAN: Well, my dad’s a state cop and he was working that day and my mom’s a nurse so she was tied up. I rode out here with a friend and his mom.
God: But who got you here?
BRENAN: Didn’t I just. . .
God: You told me who was driving the car, but who brought you?
BRENAN: I think I’m getting confused.
God: Why did you come to PAC?
BRENAN: I guess some of my friends told me about it.
God: But what made you decide to come?
BRENAN: Uh. . .Lord? Are we going around in circles?
God: (laughs) Sorry. I don’t mean to be kidding with you. What I mean is. . . you’re standing there now. You’re about to leave for college. You’ve given your life to Christ and now you’re one of my leaders. How did. . . you know. . .how did that happen?
BRENAN: (a long beat, then) Well. . . I guess people have been praying for me my whole life.
God: Who?
BRENAN: (name some of the people who’ve prayed for you over the years)
God: Yeah. They are the ones. . . they’re the ones who brought you here.
BRENAN: I get it.
God: Everybody looking at you right now has had someone praying for them their whole lives. So. . . so see how some of the others got here. Ask them.
BRENAN: (look around a bit, then) Lane? How’d you get here? (Lane tells us the people who’ve prayed for him throughout his life) Emma? How’d you get here? (she does the same)
God: Try one more.
BRENAN: Okay. Hannah Martin? Who’s prayed for you? (Hannah tells us)
God: Everybody. Everybody out there has had people praying for them. You even did it last night, didn’t you?
BRENAN: Yeah. . . I prayed for my small group before they got here. (read the names off your card)
God: And I heard you. So. . .here we are at PAC? Lots of things we can do. So what’s the most important?
BRENAN: Well. .. I’m in Drama. That’s important. But I like music, too. I’m not much of a dancer but I like to watch it. . . and the mime’s are great and the videos. I guess they’re all. . .
God: Uh. . .
BRENAN: Yeah?
God: Maybe you didn’t understand me. What’s the most important? What got you here?
BRENAN: (a long beat, then) Oh. Now I’ve got you, Lord.
God: You’re one sharp kid, you know that?
BRENAN: And don’t forget cute.
God: Get out of here. . . and don’t forget . . .
BRENAN: Yeah?
God: What got you here. Prayer. Now let’s get at it, okay?
BRENAN: You got it, Lord. (you exit)
