Pac III performance 1
Ellie: Hey God! God: Hi Ellie. Good to see you again. Ellie: (Giggles a little) Look where I am! I’m back at PAC! God: I know! Look where I am… everywhere! (Chuckles) Isn’t it great? Ellie: It is great. (Waits a beat) Actually it’s more than great, but you know God… something doesn’t feel right. God: Tell me about it. Ellie: That’s the problem… GOD: What do you mean? Ellie: I don’t want to tell you about it. God Oh. This uh. . this could be an awkward prayer. Ellie: Don’t get me wrong, I miss you, God. But sometimes… sometimes… I just don’t want to talk to you. I get angry with people or the things I have to do. Sometimes I get angry about work or school or even myself. And here lately, I’ve been angry with you. God: (A long beat) Angry with me, Huh? (Another beat) Why’s that? Ellie: Because I know talking to you is the right thing to do, so I try my very hardest to talk to you like I am doing right now but… God: But what? Ellie:… I’m not ready. God: (A long beat) Ellie, I’ll let you in on a little something. I know you’ve been angry with others and with me and even yourself… so what else is new? ELLIE What? GOD: I’m simply telling you. Big Deal. Everyone gets angry. Ellie: So what do you want me to do about it? GOD: Nothing. ELLIE Are you kidding? GOD: Nothing. I want you to do nothing about it because you can’t. ELLIE I can’t? So what am I supposed to do? GOD: Give it to me. ELLIE Give it to you? GOD: Give your anger to me. You’re mad at somebody? Pray for them. ELLIE But how can I pray for them if I’m mad at them? GOD: Simple. You just do it. You do the praying and I’ll take care of your anger. It’s pretty much impossible to pray for someone and dislike them at the same time. It puts you out of balance, you know? ELLIE So what about me? When I’m mad at myself? GOD: Same thing. Pray for the person you’re angry with. ELLIE Even if it’s me? GOD: Especially if it’s you. ELLIE I’m all mixed up. GOD: (laughs) Nothing new there. How plain do I have to make this, girl? ELLIE But it can’t be that simple. GOD: Wanna bet? Just try it. Somebody makes you angry, pray for them. You don’t have to agree with them or even like them, just pray for them. ELLIE Well, if you say so. GOD: And I do. . Did you bring everything you needed to camp? ELLIE I think so. GOD: You sure? You didn’t forget anything? ELLIE Well . . . no. GOD: Good. Now I want you to leave something. ELLIE Leave something at camp? What if I need it? GOD: You won’t. Leave your anger, Ellie. Leave your fear. Leave your worries. Just throw them into my lap for a couple of days, okay? ELLIE You think I can do that? GOD: Well, here’s the deal. I know you better than you know yourself. Yes. Yes, you can do it. Now. . are you ready for a great PAC?
ELLIE I’m ready. GOD: Still mad? ELLIE No. GOD: Did I mention that I love you? ELLIE (a beat, then) Yes. GOD: Let’s go.
