TRAVIS: Hey Lord.

GOD: Hey Trav. TRAVIS: It’s been great.

GOD: Always different, always great. And your shirt’s lookin’ mighty fine, my man.

TRAVIS: Thanks. Lord, I was just talking to __________ today.

GOD: I know. I was there.

TRAVIS: Yeah. I should have known. He/she told me they’d made decision for Christ this weekend.

GOD: I know. You should hear the celebration in heaven.

TRAVIS: Well..it got me to thinking. I remember when I first came to this altar.

GOD: How old were you?

TRAVIS: I guess about eleven or twelve.

GOD: I remember the night, Travis. I never forget things like that. You were eleven and half.

TRAVIS: I was wearing this yellow shirt…

GOD: It was _____.

TRAVIS: And sandals…

GOD: Rebocks.

TRAVIS: And my stomach was still full of tacos…

GOD: It was spaghetti night. You got a great memory, Trav.

TRAVIS: But I’ve got this part right….I’d just come from our last small group where they talked about salvation...about accepting Christ as my savior. And I felt…I felt something beating inside my chest. So I walked right up… (and he sees a young boy coming out of the audience and going to the altar) And…

GOD: It was 9:46 on Saturday night. You knelt on the right side of the altar…and… (Roger enters to pray with the boy)

TRAVIS: Yeah. Yeah, that was it. And then I felt on hand on my shoulder and Roger…

GOD: Roger came up and knelt beside you….And you don’t remember a thing he said.

TRAVIS: That’s right.

GOD: That’s okay. He wasn’t talking to you.

TRAVIS: (a beat, then) I didn’t know for sure what was happening.

GOD: I did.

TRAVIS: I don’t even remember how long we stayed there.

GOD: Long enough.

TRAVIS: I know that something happened. I couldn’t sort it all out until I got home that night and laid there in my bed. Then it was like You said…

GOD: I said, “Yeah. That was real, Travis. You’re mine. Forever. No matter what you do, my grace is enough. My son died for you, and that’s real. That’s the most real thing you’ve ever experienced in your life.

TRAVIS: (a long beat as he looks at Roger and the boy at the altar) I’ll never forget it, Lord. Then I got up. Roger hugged me (he does) and it was like…it was like you were hugging me.

GOD: I was.

TRAVIS: Then he took me back to my seat …..

GOD: And you sat there wondering what had just happened.

TRAVIS: And you know the funny part? I’m still figuring it out. How long does this last?

GOD: Depends on how long you live.

TRAVIS: (a long beat as he looks at the empty altar) It’s gonna happen again tonight. Some will have their life changed forever.

GOD: Some will. For some it’ll be tomorrow in their home church. Some will talk to their parents and go to the altar together. And some little boy will welcome me into his heart while lying in his bed tonight. It doesn’t matter where. I stay up late.

TRAVIS: (a beat then) I can’t wait. (a beat..give yourself time to make it real) I love you, Lord. GOD: I love you more. (Travis leaves)
