Tonight we’ll be celebrating the three great Jacksonville businesses at the large business, small business and non-profit levels. But first…our Circle of Excellence Award to a man we all know and love for his lifetime of achievement!
(short musical intro, then) BRAD: He’s a Perry High School Dandy…A Perry High School Do or Die! Found a girl named Ruth from Morrisonville… Put a new spark in his eye! He taught awhile in dear old Perry…Then moved to Turner here in town. Of all the men he was the most-est, blew away the other coaches. He is tonight’s most special guy!
JODIE: Made a team with Mr. Dowland… Pens and paper all that stuff. But when it came to his dear Jacksonville…He just couldn’t do enough! He’s volunteered for every cause here… So quietly he works the town! When you need a hand it’s sure that you will always call on Merle Oh he is tonight’s most special guy!
NATHAN: (music under) Former teacher, former coach, and one of Jacksonville’s most beloved businessmen… He’s been the Chairman of the Chamber Board, President of the Kiwanis, Kiwanis Lieutenant Governor, and has done practically every volunteer job in our community! Ladies and Gentlemen… the Circle of Excellence goes to Jacksonville’s Most Excellent….Merle Wade! Merle! Come on up here! So Bill Meier came up to me during the break and said, “Hey baby, your place or mine?” I told him, “Both. So Jess Spradlin came up to me a few minutes ago and said, “Baby, your body is like a temple.” I said, “Sorry, there aren’t any services today.” Life is Cabaret, old chum, A Jacksonville Cabaret! CARRIE: Come taste the wine, I was talking to John Powers during the meal and I got to thinking. Men are like…blenders. You need one…you’re just not sure why. JODIE: Come hear the band.
