Travis and God

PAC III, 2004-2

TRAVIS: (enters) Uh…God? You still there?

GOD: Where would I go?

TRAVIS: I need to talk to you a minute.

GOD: I’ll be here for the rest of your life.

TRAVIS: I guess I knew that. Thanks.

GOD: So talk. I’m always listening.

TRAVIS: That (name a performance)….it really touched me, Lord.

GOD: Thanks. It was my idea.

TRAVIS: I could tell. I could hear you talking to me in the words.

GOD: Glad you listened.

TRAVIS: But my problem is…..I don’t know how to put this…I mean, what do I do with it?

GOD: Do with what?

TRAVIS: It’s this feeling, Lord. I feel like you’re talking to me…have been all weekend…and then tonight when (describe the event)________, I felt like maybe I needed to change something.

GOD: Don’t be afraid of it, Travis.

TRAVIS: I’m not a afraid of it….

GOD: Wanna bet? You’re afraid that you won’t be able to do what I want from you.

TRAVIS: I guess I am afraid. But I don’t even know what it is…

GOD: You trust me?

TRAVIS: Of course I trust you, Lord.

GOD: Then trust me in this. I only want things for you that will help you, not harm you. I only want the very best for you. Remember what your life was like back before you knew me?

TRAVIS: Pretty dumb. I wasted a lot of time doing stupid things.

GOD: I know. I’ve got the video.

TRAVIS: Huh?

GOD: You know what I mean.

TRAVIS: (a long beat, then) I’m sorry for doubting you…so…you know…what do I do with this feeling I’ve got?

GOD: Well…there’s a big altar up front.

TRAVIS: Yea. I remember last year. It was about the best feeling in my life. But what do I say? What do I pray?

GOD: Are you confused?

TRAVIS: Yea.

GOD: Then tell me you’re confused. Scared?

TRAVIS: A little.

GOD: I’ll take that. Need friends? Wish there was somebody to pray with you?

TRAVIS: Sure.

GOD: That’s what the altar’s for. But….you know Trav, you don’t have to wait.

TRAVIS: You mean…like do it now?

GOD: Some place you’ve got to go?

TRAVIS: But…I mean…God, everybody’s watching.

GOD: And maybe…just maybe…a few of them will be praying. In fact, why not grab a couple right now?

TRAVIS: You mean…right now during the performance?

GOD: Can’t think of a better time. Only it’s gonna be real, Travis. This is not a performance. It’s better.

TRAVIS: (long beat…do what you want with this..but go to the audience and ask a couple of people if they’d pray with you…take them up to the altar…don’t make it really long, but make it real..pray for those with you..ask direction…wherever the real God leads you)

(After your prayer and you take the others to their seats, hug them, thank them, etc.)

That was good. I feel ….I don’t know..I feel really good right now.

GOD: Know what? I do, too.

TRAVIS: I don’t wanna be selfish, but…well, could we do it again?

GOD: Trav, you’re gonna have a chance to do it again and again before the night’s over. But why wait?

TRAVIS: You mean?

GOD: You’ve got the microphone.

TRAVIS: (Then you pray for the audience..don’t bow your head..look right at them..mention names..go out there and touch a few… ) (as you end) And hey guys…I’ll be right up front tonight…grab me if you need anything. (exit) Travis & God II-2
