Travis and God
PAC II, 2
Travis enters....
TRAVIS: God?
GOD: How’s your camp going?
TRAVIS: Oh great.
GOD: Really.
TRAVIS: Yea, Lord…it’s really fun.
GOD: Travis?
TRAVIS: Yea.
GOD: You’re lying.
TRAVIS: Why do I always think I can hide stuff from you?
GOD: Maybe you forget who you’re talking to…. And maybe you forget how much it hurts someone you love when you lie to them. So what’s the problem?
TRAVIS: Same old thing, God. I’m jealous. I …I see kids up here doing stuff I can’t do. I see them leading things and I don’t get to. I mean, I know this is totally wrong and I’m totally wrong, but ….well, I can’t help it, Lord.
GOD: I understand.
TRAVIS: You do?
GOD: You think I don’t get jealous?
TRAVIS: You?
GOD: I’m jealous of you.
TRAVIS: You’re kidding.
GOD: I don’t kid.
TRAVIS: Sorry.
GOD: When you watch _________ up there doing such a great job. Or _________ or _____________, and you’re jealous, then that means you’re thinking of yourself instead of me. And you know what? I get jealous.
TRAVIS: That’s hard to be believe.. I mean, I believe you, Lord, but …well…it’s hard to believe that you can be jealous of me.
GOD: Everybody wants attention, Trav. That makes us think people love us. But when you’re up there in front of the audience and you think about yourself, you’ll always get jealous.
TRAVIS: But when I think about you…….
GOD: Then it’s impossible. You can’t be jealous of anyone else when you’re thinking about me. And when you think about yourself, you’ll always be jealous of someone else.
TRAVIS: How do you come up with this stuff?
GOD: Magic.
TRAVIS: Huh?
GOD: I’m kidding.
TRAVIS: I thought you said you didn’t kid.
GOD: I know. I was kidding when I said that.
TRAVIS: (laughs) You’re cool, God.
GOD: Thanks. You jealous?
TRAVIS: No. No, I guess not anymore.
GOD: Get out there and think of me….If you spend all your time getting jealous then you’re missing the best part of my camp.
TRAVIS: See you later?
GOD: Where would I go? I’m already there.
TRAVIS: (smiles, then) I’m jealous. (he runs off)
