Travis and God, II, 3
Travis: (entering) Hey buddy!
God: Yo, Trav!
Travis: (laughing) Sorry, but I still can’t get used to that. God … my friend!
God: Great isn’t it? And hey! I’ll hang around your place for about the next sixty years then You can come over to mine!
Travis: (laughing) I never knew God could laugh.
God: Are you kidding? When _________ got up there and ________, I thought I’d bust a gut.
Travis: And how about (name the MC’s) _________ and __________? They really crack me up.
God: (a long beat as Travis wonders what’s going on) Well, they try. (a long beat) Kidding!
Travis: (a beat, then) It’s been a great camp, Lord.
God: It’s been a great camp.
Travis: And tonight….
God: Yea…. Tonight… the best part of all.
Travis: Although you gotta admit, the spaghetti was darned good.
God: Thank you.
Travis: (laughs) So… (looks around secretively) .. I mean, what do You have planned for tonight, Lord?
God: Everything.
Travis: Everything?
God: You see Trav, I plan big. I’ve got plans for ________, and _________, and _________, that would just knock their socks off.
Travis: Knock their socks off. That’s funny.
God: I learned it from Libby. My plans are huge, Travis. Bigger than anything you could ever imagine.
Travis: So how come……?
God: How come they don’t always come true?
Travis: Yea.
God: It’s called prayer. I want you to pray for big things, Travis. I want you to expect big things from me. I want you to trust me, Trav.
Travis: Heck, I trust you, God.
God: More. Trust me more. Somebody gives their life to me at the altar tonight and I’m gonna take it, and I’m gonna shape it and mold it and turn it inside out and …well, it’s going to be so wonderful that even I can’t describe it.
Travis: (a beat then) Did I ever tell you that you’re pretty cool?
God: Tell me again.
Travis: You’re pretty cool.
God: Thanks, Trav. You are too. Do me a favor?
Travis: Sure. I mean, after all, we’re best friends.
God: Pray with somebody tonight. Get us some more friends.
Travis: Wow! A God gang!
God: Yea. Let’s knock their socks off. (Travis runs off.)
