Travis and God, PAC IV, 2
TRAVIS: Hi Lord.
GOD: How’s it going, Trav?
TRAVIS: Great.
GOD: Why don't I completely believe you?
TRAVIS: Because you’re God. I can never fool you. But really…the camp’s just fantastic..really…I mean nearly all of it.
GOD: “nearly all”?
TRAVIS: Okay, there’s one part of camp that makes me really nervous… I’m uncomfortable.
GOD: I can get new MC’s.
TRAVIS: (laughing) No..it’s…Lord, it’s the small groups. When I’m with a bunch of people dancing or singing I’m okay..but when we sit in a circle and we talk about things…I never know what to say, Lord. The other campers give such good answers and I sit there saying dumb things like.. “I don't know,” and… “Yeah, the hotdogs were great.” I feel like an idiot.
GOD: …and you don't…you don’t really see the need to share things with other people, right?
TRAVIS: Well..I mean…what’s the purpose? When you and I talk…you know..it’s cool. I really get a lot out of that.
GOD: Me too.
TRAVIS: But do I really need to share these things with others?
GOD: No.
TRAVIS: No? That’s your answer? No? Then why are we….
GOD: Look out in the audience, Travis. Pick out a counselor. Pick anybody.
TRAVIS: (looks out there then names a counselor)
GOD: Good. Ask ________ where he/she saw me today.
TRAVIS: Saw you?
GOD: Yeah. Ask _______ where he/she saw me working today….Don’t worry… He’ll/She’ll tell you.
TRAVIS: Well…okay. _________.. where did you see God today? (the person answers, then) Cool.
GOD: Pick somebody else…camper..counselor…it doesn’t make any difference. Just ask them.
TRAVIS: (picks out someone else and asks them the same question) Neat. I like that.
GOD: One more…this is sort of fun, isn’t it?
TRAVIS: Yeah.. I’ve never tried this. You’re smart.
GOD: You’re tellin’ me. Go head. Pick one more.
TRAVIS: (picks out someone else and asks them where they’ve seen God today, then) Wow. I had no idea…
GOD: And how…..how does it make you feel, Travis? How did you feel when somebody shared their joys with you?
TRAVIS: Like…well…like they trusted me. They liked me enough to tell me what was on their heart. I may do this again.
GOD: Sweet. You’ve just formed a small group.
TRAVIS: Man, this is a lot better.
GOD: I know. Now it’s your turn.
TRAVIS: Mine?
GOD: You tell them…tell them where you’ve seen me today.
TRAVIS: (does)
GOD: And now you’ve done something very special for each one of them. You even invited me into your small group.
TRAVIS: Cool.
GOD: Yeah.. cool. And Trav…
TRAVIS: Yeah?
GOD: We’ve got some more group time coming tonight… and this time…
TRAVIS: Yeah?
GOD: Forget about the hotdogs… (Travis smiles and exits)
