Burgoo
1979 · Triopia High School gym
Burgoo was an original 1979 musical by Ken Bradbury, set in a highly fictionalized town called Burgoo. It marked a return to original work at Triopia — "Original shows began again in 1979" — and Ken cheerfully admitted that "even the director has no clue as to the plot of this show." What everyone remembered was the soup and the dance: the show was built around an enormous communal soup pot. Jeff Weiss played the beloved Willy, with Susan Bumgarner in a heartfelt leading role.

Production Notes
The centerpiece soup pot was constructed so large that it had to be sawed in half just to get it through the doors and into the Triopia High School gym. The show is remembered for "lots of soup and dance." Costumer Connie Charlesworth joined the Triopia costume team in 1979 with this production, continuing until her departure from Triopia in 1988. No song titles or lyrics survive in the archive record, so the musical numbers are not listed here.
