Different
2010
Different survives in the archive chiefly through its sound — a collection of music and effects tracks recorded in the late summer of 2010. No script, program, or cast list has yet been recovered, so the full story of the show remains to be filled in. What the audio leaves behind, however, sketches the shape of a lively, music-driven production.
The track titles hint at the world the show conjured: an "Opening" and a two-part "Finale," a recurring theme heard in "Different New," and a string of vivid scene cues. Several point to the American frontier and early history — "Columbus," "Franklin," and a cluster of horse-themed effects ("fast horse," "Horse Lope," "Roll," "Shake") alongside weather and atmosphere cues like "Lightning Strike." Lighter moments turn up in "Doodle," "Dif. 2 Coat," and "The Odd Ones."
The recordings are dated between August 13 and September 14, 2010, marking the rehearsal-and-production window when the show was being built and scored.
