Where's Santa?
2013 · Lincoln Land Community College
Where's Santa? was an original Christmas play written and directed by Ken Bradbury for his Lincoln Land Community College theatre class and staged in the fall, first-semester run of 2013. Billed by "The Heart of Jacksonville" and performed by the LLCC theatre troupe with a guest appearance by Santa, the show was presented in Jacksonville on December 17 and 18, 2013.
The story opens with a cast of fifteen elves greeting families as they arrive, full of noise and running about. When the trumpet fanfare calls for the star of the show, Santa Claus is nowhere to be found — and the elves must figure out where he has gone. Much of the play's heart belongs to Brittipom (Brittany Davis), the well-meaning "spastic" elf who keeps getting things wrong. Left alone onstage, she tells the audience a dream-scene story about a Christmas puppy named Sam she once gave up so a poorer neighbor girl could be happy, leading into an original song carried by Elisabeth Werries on guitar. In the end the locked-out Santa (Alan Stare) is discovered sneaking in from the back of the auditorium.
