Green Pastures Fundraiser 2016

The 2016 Green Pastures Fundraiser took the stage on March 5th, beginning at 7 p.m. with the area's well-known southern gospel group Two by Two, with Ken Bradbury emceeing a lineup of music, dance, and comedy. Ken did more than host: he opened Act I at the keyboard as part of a piano trio with John Love and Brock Gwaltney, and — as a member of the Green Pastures board — he wrote and signed the fundraising appeal letter that set the whole benefit in motion. There was no admission charge; donations supported the youth camps at the rural Meredosia campground — an independent, interdenominational Christian camp where most campers' fees are partially or wholly covered by donors. Nearly every performer had been a camper or counselor at Green Pastures. As Bradbury put it, the decision to repeat the previous year's event was an easy call: "When folks left last year's event so many said, 'You've got to do this again!' so we are." Board member Keri Mason added that the focus was squarely on the kids — "No child is ever turned away for lack of funds, no questions asked."
