2005 Speech Workshop Schedule
A Royal Treat!
9:00- 9:15 am- Let the Procession begin. M’Lords and Ladies will conduct themselves to the Royal Radisson Courtyard, dismount, and register their noble bodies for a day of refreshment, entertainment, and stimulation fit for a King.
9:15- 9:25 am- Her Royal Highness Nicole of the Unpronounceable Last Name will bestow her blessings upon the assembled noble persons, and give us our marching orders for the day.
9:25- 10:00 am- General Session- Group Work. The assembled clans congregate to cogitate, contemplate, and otherwise chew up and digest matters of universal importance to the speech kingdom.
10:00- 10:05 am- Break-est thou quickly, lest the competing Lords and Ladies beateth thou to the royal privy.
10:05- 10:50 am- Session I Dame Carole Rogers (and what a dame she is!) Leads you down the primrose path of hosting a speech tournament. Jester Kim Warren boldly holds forth on how to build thyself a tiny kingdom with Small Groups and Chorale Presentations.
10:50- 10:55 am- If thou didst find thyself shoved ignobly out of line on the first pass at the privy, thou wilt be given a second chance at the throne.
10:55- 11:45- Session II Sir Tim Chipman of the Curly Locks and Winning smile conducts a full-contact joust upon the dreaded subject of Blocking. Princess Trish Ballard takes you through the dangerous and sometimes enchanting forest of Impromptu speaking and Original Script.
10:05- 11:45- Session III The Ancient Wizard Ken Bradbury, along with his comely lass, Roberta Neuman, will gently take the hands of all New Coaches and show you your way through the royal maze of Organizing Your Troops, Finding your weaponry (materials,) combat (blocking), and will then have the audacity to ask for questions from the assembled neophytes.
11:50- 12:50- Tavern Wench! Wine for my friends! The assemblage will meet most hungrily to break bread, devour the stuffed pig, and digest both the morning and the meal as we meet in our contest areas. Each round table will be numbered with thy contest area. Please sitteth thou there. .
12:50- 2:00 Wild Savages from all over the kingdom will be on display as the students of Sir Tim of Chipman, Lady Kim of Warren, Dame Taunya of Jenkins, and Duchess Carole Rogers will let the captives free for our edification and envy.
2:00- 2:05 pm- Break…Last chance to powder thy nose this side of Joliet, M’Lady.
2:05- 3:10 pm- Session IV…The Final Joust! Don’t depart before the finale! This is where we bring on the Male Dance Team! Dame Julie Nelson flails her way through the tangled webs of Improvisation. Sir Tim of the Curls and Teeth repeats his oft-told tale of Blocking. The Ancient Wizard Bradbury, if still awake, will regale you with what he knows about the ancient yet noble art of acting.
