2011 Music Workshop Schedule

Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 Doubletree Hotel – 10 Brickyard Drive Bloomington, IL

Oh, the places you’ll go, Dr. Seuss! The people you’ll meet on the way! The knowledge and fun! The season’s begun in music at IESA! A splederful treat today as we meet, on a day that’s not boring or formal. We’re gathering ‘round in Bloomington town (Don’t be confused, it’s not Normal).

At 8:45 we’ll gather you live, take your names and see your sweet faces. Then at 9 o’clock sharp, the team hits their mark, and our day is off to the races!

9:00- 9:15 am- The tooters of Music and hooters of speech Will gather together to cheer The Seussical, Musical, Beautiful folks Who’ve won some neat honors this year!

Then wave our bye-bye to the girls and the guys In the speech crowd as we take our leave And gather together like birds of a feather With some tricks up our musical sleeve.

And in case on your hop you had no chance to stop, we’ll take a wee break at 9:30, For Pepsi or tea, or maybe a …well…but in case there’s a line, better hurry.

9:35- 10:35 am- Session I Thidwick would smile at the choices awhile and this morning we’ll give you two… Two cats with the hats to pull off the job and tell you just what to do.

--Sarah (Ms. Windham) of Dwight Middle School heard Horton wanted to host… So she has prepared a wonderful fare! Pachydermically, she is the most!

--And if you’re so smart that you’re bored with the art of teaching the music by rote, Jeff Nelson of Chrisman will make SMARTBOARD glisten as a new way to teach them the notes!

10:35- 10:40 am- - A break! A break! It’s time for a break! Come all ye fair rogues, knaves and wenches! For even musicians need a small stretch! (Who think ye we are, the Grinches?)

10:40- 11:40am- Session II The Musical, Suessical Journey continues down roads both exciting and hairy… Two more choices are yours on our note-able tour (warning: reactions may vary)

--Dr. Joseph Manfredo of Illinois State will expound (with gestures, that’s true!) On what’s rocking the nation, Teacher Evaluation, and what it may mean for you!

--While next door’s the thrillin’ Kathy Vermillion of Normal (That’s “Kingsley” lest you stumble.) Who’ll teach you to lead (and the things that you’ll need) for great Middle School Ensemble.

11:45 - 12:45pm Sam I Am had his eggs and his ham if he pleased …so eat…We won’t tell your employer. Let’s all break our fast with a tasty repast ….you’ll find it out in the foyer. Enjoy all the pleasures of our edible treasures! Imbibe until you are full! Kick back and relax and forget the attacks you’d be suffering from food at your school.

Then it’s time to get up once you’ve had enough and head to the afternoon’s poaching. A tasty dessert of tips, tricks, and mixes of darned good advice for your coaching.

12:50- 1:50 pm- Session III The Who-ers of Whoville all would agree it’s been a great day for your brain.. But don’t fly the coop, we’ve got two more to do then you can fly off on your way.

Hilligoss (Joanne) leads a chat-fest that Sam (of “I am”) would just dearly love. She’ll open the ship to Networking tips (if you’re lost, see directions above.)

There’s room for us all in our musical hall, says Dr. Lapka (not a physician!) The joy when they spin disabilities into some wonderfully gifted musicians!

We know Seuss would smile if he’d stay here a while and see what your program has meant To the children who’ve come, stayed awhile, then moved on, and knew that their time was well-spent. The days that you spend, the hours on end, frustrations and triumphs and tears… Are worth it, my friend, for at the day’s end, you’ve done something lasting for years. The sound of a laugh, the warmth of a hug, those things will stay with you a while For we hope that you see (and Seuss would agree) you’ve brightened the heart of child.
