2013 Speech Workshop Schedule

“Reality Speech? This is my life.” Friday, Sept. 20, 2013

8:45- 9:00 am- The contestants gather for this exciting day of Reality Speech, IESA style. Check your Spandex at the door. (Humming “Bad boy, bad boy, What cha gonna do?” might win you a door prize.)

9:00- 9:15 am- Top IESA Chef Nicole welcomes us, as we witness the awards for the Biggest Winners, plus a little something by the IESA speech advisor committee, aka “The Deadliest Catch.”

9:15- 9:50 am- General Session- Who’ll be the Survivor in the newest IESA event, Team Improv, demo-ed by Kim Kardashian look-alike Ken Bradbury, and Stevie “The Wonder” Williams? Today’s victims are from Our Saviors Jacksonville.

9:50- 10:50 am- Session I- The IESA Has Talent and boy do we have some for you! Some shining faces are lined up to strut their stuff from the Jersey Shore of Peoria to the murky bayous of Southern Illinois.

10:50- 11:00 am- Time for an Amazing Race to the restrooms.

11:00- 12:00- Session II

What is that X-Factor that makes a winning script? Ken Bradbury prepares you to be America’s next Top author or script-picker. It’s time to get your Ducks in a row and build a real Dynasty of Chorale Presentation Competition as master performance carver, Cheryl Horne, leads the way. *New Coaches- “How to avoid those first year Boo-Boo’s, Honey,” as Rob Blackburn carefully guides you through the swamps of first-year coaching.

12:00- 1:00- Lunch- Iron Chef Bloomington takes the stage as we find out what puts the “rad” in Radisson. You’ll be seated with the teammates from your part of the state. No immunity tokens allowed.

1:00- 2:00 pm- Session III The Donald Trump of IESA coaches, Steve Williams, will lead you through “Directing for Dummies.” Whether you’re an old hand or an Apprentice, “The Steve” will Fire you up. Our resident guru of judges who’s been Dancing with the Stars of IESA speech for decades, Roger Green gives us the view from the other side of the judge’s desk. Hosting a speech contest that would make Martha Stewart proud is in the hands of these two Housewives of the IESA, Shayla Grantham and Stacey Worrell.

2:00- 2:05- Quick break! Don’t worry…there are still some places where Big Brother is not watching.

2:05- 3:05- Session IV A repeat of Ken’s X-factor for scripts tips Improv- Julie Nelson, Braidwood Braidwood’s Julie Nelson leads you through the ultimate Reality event in IESA, Improv.
