2014 Speech Workshop Schedule
“At the Hop" Friday, Sept. 19, 2014
8:45- 9:00 am- Bee-Bop A-Ree-Bop, a Bing, Bang Boo! Boogie on in to the Radisson to register with our bevy of IESA bobbysoxers. “Cool” is the appropriate response.
9:00- 9:15 am- Wake up, Little Suzie! Head carhop Nicole welcomes you to “At The Hop,” this year’s IESA Speech workshop where she’ll toss a few awards into the window of your Chevy as Ken “The Great Pretender” Bradbury stumbles through the rest of the session.
9:15- 9:50 am- Time to get All Shook Up as Big Daddy Steve Williams & Ken demo this year’s games for Group Improv
9:50- 10:50 am- Doo-Waa, Doo-Waa, Doo-Waa Diddy! Time to take a peek at some talented kiddies! Presentations will be conducted simultaneously in each room. Brickyard I, II, & III
10:50- 11:00 am- Don’t be Cruel to your plumbing, sister. Break time!
11:00- 12:00- Session II
Your first year of coaching need not be a Heartbreak Hotel. Rob “Shangalang” Blackburn shows you what’s behind the Green Door of IESA speech No need to Rock Around the Clock hosting a contest. Shayla “The Rocket” Grantham leads you up the slippery slopes of Blueberry Hill Hosting. Team Improv- Ken “Hound Dog” Bradbury will lay Sixteen Tons of good advice on you if you’re thinking of stepping into the insanity of Group Improv.
12:00- 1:00- Drive your Chevy to the Levee and break out the Ding Dongs! It’s time to eat! Gather with the boppers from your area to make plans for this year’s contest.
1:00- 2:00 pm- Session III Whether it’s a Witch Doctor or a Flying Purple People Eater, Steve “Big Daddy” Williams will tune up your rods and grease your camshaft with his owner’s manual of Character Development. It’s all about the rules, Dude. You want the latest scoop on IESA speech rules and regs? Nicole will forego her Teeny-Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and lay the truth on you. Bradbury tries once again to get it right with Group Improv. Old boppers never die; they just join the IESA speech advisory committee.
2:00- 2:05- Get a clue, Lou! Take a break, Jake!
2:05- 3:05- Session IV Great Balls of Fire! There are still dozens of coaching problems we haven’t discussed today! Here’s a workshop staffed by Steve, Shayla, Ken and Rob who’ll have the answers! Oh Johnny, it’ll be Goode! So once upon a time in a school somewhat far away called Rochester, this amazing speech program just popped up, man! Actually, it was put together by the amazing team of Cindy “Little Darlin’” Anderson and Susan “Teddy Bear” Eby. Cruise on in and let them tell you how to recruit and retain a team.
