2016 Speech Workshop Schedule
“Bing! Bang! Wham! Whee! Superheroes at the DoubleTree!" Friday, Sept. 16, 2016
8:45- 9:00 am- Land your jetpacks in the parking lot of the Bloomington DoubleTree and teleport your way into the lobby to be met by the IESA Wonder Women of Registration.
9:00- 9:15 am- Welcome to the gathering of IESA Speech Super Heroes. . .That means You! Grab a cup, a super-bagel, and hear what’s new and spectacular with IESA speech this year along with congratulating this year’s award winners and being stimulated by an opening production by our state speech committee. Supergirl Nicole with the hard-to-pronounce last name in charge.
9:15- 9:50 am- The Aging Hulk, Ken Bradbury, tells us about the lineup of Team Improv events for the coming season and he’s depending upon a few courageous aliens from our audience of heroes to demonstrate this season’s amazing feats in this fledgling event.
9:50- 10:00 am- Even Super Heroes need relief and here’s your chance in case the force is with you.
10:00- 11:00 am- Episode I, The Attack of the Jedi! The Real Heroes of IESA speech take the stage as the student performers fly around the room showing their stuff, giving us new ideas, and leaping tall buildings in a single bound. Room I: Solo- Shayla Storyteller- Jacksonville Turner

Room III: Team Improv- Rob Improv Duet- Rob
11:00- 11:10 am- Wam, Bam, Flash, Gong! . . .got ten minutes to find the john!
11:10- 12:10- Episode II The Empire Strikes Back! They let Ken Bradbury out of the Home for Aging Super Heroes once a year and today’s the day as he shows you how to wrestle that tricky event of “Storytelling” into submission and make it a great part of your program. The Black Widow of Improv, Molly “Wham!” Nixon leads you through the wicked and wild galaxy of Improvisation. Shayla Grantham, the Cat Woman of IESA speech, is licking her paws in anticipation for your arrival, hungry to show you how to get your little heroes ready for contest.
12:10- 1:10- What do Super Heroes eat? Lunch! Let’s do it! Grab a table with folks from your area of the IESA universe and draw straws for who gets to host.
1:10- 2:10 pm- Episode III . . . RU D2? Me 2! Rob “Spiderman” Blackburn weaves his wondrous web of knowledge, capturing the essence of IESA speech work for all new coaches in our galaxy. There are galaxies beyond ours, Luke! And Darth Mary Nelson will lead you on a trek to find other opportunities for your young heroes to perform. Marvel-lous Molly makes a return orbit with her Improv workshop.
2:10- 2:15- Take a break quickly! Before the Force Awakens!
2:05- 3:05- Episode IV . . . On to the Future! The Dynamic Due of Stacey and Shayla form our Intergalactic Panel of Sage Advice on all things speech-a-licious. Obi-Wan Kenobi eat your heart out. Xena, the Warrior Princess, formerly known as Trish Ballard, overcomes her dark past and lays out her host of great ideas for hosting a contest before you.
