2018 Speech Workshop Schedule

“Dungeons, Dragons & Drama" Friday, Sept. 14, 2018

8:45- 9:00 am- The footmen of Castle Doubletree will assist you alighting from your carriage in order that thou shalt be registered.

9:00- 9:15 am- Let the trumpets sound as thou art welcomed most heartily, instructed as to the new jousting rules, breaking forth in praise of award winners and entertained most joyfully.

9:15- 10:15 am- Lady Kim Kaufman of TEDx, CNN and Toastmasters fame will begin our day with “Finding Your Voice and Cracking the Code,” reminding us of the valuable role that speech and speech coaches play in our students’ lives.

10:15- 10:30 am- Oh goodness sake - - Lest thou should ache - -Thou now may take- - A blessed break

10:30- 11:30 am- Joust 1 I-Let down the drawbridge! Un-loose the chains! The dwarves are coming to entertain! Room I: Normal Epiphany- Impromptu Germantown Hills- Duet

Room II: Springbay Riverview- Improv Springbay Riverview- Storytelling

Room III:

Springfield Iles- Team Improv

11:30- 11:40 am- Lords and Ladies, Knights and Squires, Another break, Lest we expire

11:40- 12:40- Joust II Lady Jackie Kesselbring holds forth on ways to organize your little speech kingdom Sir Kenneth of Bradbury demonstrates the art of Group Improv without the use of swords and blood Dame Julie Nelson- Will help you navigate the murky moat of material: The Good, the Bad and the Over Used

12:40- 1:30- Broil the peacock! Boil the Boar! Oh what a feast we have in store! If thou would be so kind as to dine with those of your clan (contest area)

1:30- 2:30 pm- Joust III Lady Jennifer Tom will instruct you on planting the seeds to grow your speech program without benefit of dungeons and dragons Lady Shawn of Smith- Leads you into contest combat as she demonstrates the chivalric art of stage blocking. Trish Ballard, the Terror of Middle Earth- Will gather all coaches new and fresh to this enchanted land of IESA speech

2:30- 2:35- Egad! Forsooth! It’s not to late for you to take a final break.

2:35- 3:35- Joust IV . . . The Final Battle . . . as we offer two bewitching sessions for your choosing Arena One will feature Lady Trish, Dame Shawn, Princess Connie and Sir Damon in a true Round Table discussion of all matters speech Or. . . If the Contest Hosting gauntlet has been thrown down at your feet as a challenge, Molly “The Wizard” Nixon will show you how to survive without loss of life, limb or sanity. Notes: Put the Wifi code on the agenda page. Remind audience to refrain from conversation during the student performances. Remind presenters to repeat any questions to the entire group prior to answering them. Put the coaches name and email on the area assignments listing for the workshop. Record the Team Improv Session Pull the wall for the last panel session.
