My mother, Freida. .. died just a few blocks from here a year ago at St. Johns.. minor heart surgery went wrong. Totally unexpected. She was a Presbyterian… our organist and pianist. Me: pumped the organ for her…. My first contact with Jesus Christ was Mom practicing every Sunday morning for church.
Songs my Mother taught me… I can’t imagine a church without music… I speaks to us in ways that nothing else can.. It brings back memories… I’ve traveled to Europe in summertime since 1979.. beautiful monuments.. but some day in heaven, the greatest monuments will be churches like this one.. the place where people first heard the beautiful message of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. And of the music in those churches. As I play some of these.. please let your mind wander back through your life.. to the time when you first accepted Christ as your Savior… I won’t mind if you simply close your eyes and think of those times and places.
Mansion.. First gospel song I ever learned.. Fishhook Sunday School Convention.
Just a Closer Walk… Mother’s Day. First without Mom. Her favorite.. Wake up Sunday mornings to this.
What a Friend.. Grandma’s favorite.. South Prairie Church.. Where would Jesus go to Church? I play in retirement homes.. the most requested song…. How Great Thou Art
Mississippi River Boat……Near the Cross.
Amazing Grace. Amazingly, a song we never sung in church, yet it’s perhaps the best known Christian song in the world.
Jesus Loves Me.. William B. Bradbury
After Mom’s funeral… Peace Like a River.
Finally gave my life to Christ at a Lay Witness Mission at our church.. My testimony… Heard a song at that mission… OR: Piano lady… Victory in Jesus…
Thank you for allowing me to be with you today. You are saints.. the saints of our church. We need you so very badly. Billy Graham, Barbara Walters. Frank Perritti’s This Present Darkness. I praise God for your service.. please realize that it is not over. I’m a teacher.. my children need your prayers. I’m an American. My country needs your prayers. I’m a Christian. My Lord needs your prayers.
