Create a panel discussion…

Contacted Fritz, Fox, and Chris for info.

Send resource info to her when I have it. Ken,              I am the Coordinator for the Illinois Bicentennial Commission and I recently spoke with Phil Funkenbusch about some plans we have in the making to develop a community involvement workshop/meeting.  Our desire is to spread the excitement to those Illinois communities wishing to plan events or programs in their own communities to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln and to assist them in getting them started.  Our initial discussions have included the possibility of having someone serve as a moderator of a panel type discussion and, possibly, serving as the meeting ‘MC.’  The panel would be made up of representatives from towns that have already developed their own bicentennial committees or commissions and are in full swing of planning for 2008-2009.  Phil suggested to me you would be great in such a role.  Other items discussed for the meeting would be to have a speaker on Lincoln in Illinois – emphasizing Lincoln’s role and presence in so many Illinois towns.  Kathryn Harris from the Presidential Library may do her Harriet Tubman portrayal – we would like this meeting to be a sharing of ideas, informative, and somewhat entertaining.  If this is something you might be interested in, please give me a call.              I look forward to hearing from you.
