Simul talk...2,3,4,5,6 people. (add audience)
2-person emotion change (I call out) USE GIRLS
Story-story emotion...same story, different characters, THREE LITTLE PIGS, a truckdriver, a first-grader, a Shakespearean actor, a too-cool teenager, a grouch, a spaz. GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE BEARS: an NFL Football coach, a Stand-up Comedian, a little girl who has to pee, nervous, a cheerleader, an elderly lady, a loudmouth New York Taxi driver.
Character Details: talk to person next to you as an old person.

LET THE I.D.A. Procedure be only one of many things you do.. perhaps among the last. Great warm up for other events. Don’t just Begin w/ the event.. work into it via Improv games.
A few Improv rules: Agree, agree, agree.. The purpose of most Jr High conversations is to win and therefore end the conversation. It takes practice to “give” and accept what the other is saying. Short answers are death. Lead, lead, lead… find a tangent if you’re dying.
My theory of coaching speech.. teach kids as you’ve lead your life.. avoiding the things you don’t do well and capitalizing on your strengths. I avoid math. I avoid ballet. I avoid car repairs.. All of which I dislike and I’m no good at. Long ago, I discovered my strengths and began avoiding my weaknesses. And I’m better off for it togday. Robert DeNiro is not great because of his remedial work.. because he continued to hammer away on the skills he didn’t possess.. but because he found his greatness and capitalized on it.
There are very few actual basics to speech and dramatics work at the Jr High level. Lydia’s strength.. physical… concentration.. energy.. Allison’s.. intensity… creativity… Build on those.
