Jr. High Speech Contest

Here’s the deal. On November 3rd, the IESA speech contest will be held at Franklin. At our school, all 7th and 8th graders who are making the grades, are eligible to participate. If you decide to be a part of the 2005 Triopia Speech Team, you will need to complete this form and return it to Mr. West or Mrs. Guthrie by NEXT MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17. You may sign up for one or two events. You may not sign up for Improv Duet Acting unless you are also entered in another event.

Here are the events:

_____ Humorous Presentation (You play more than one character)

_____ Serious Presentation

_____ Humorous Poetry

_____ Serious Poetry

_____ Duet Acting (2 people) Your partner: ______________

_____ Improv. Duet Acting. Your partner: ________________

_____ Impromptu Speaking

____Storytelling

_____ Small group acting. Group Members: ______________________________________ (3-5 people) I may have to adjust this to make the groups come out right. must be able to find the material for your size of group.

_____ Chorale Presentation (9-20 people)

_________________ has my permission to enter the IESA speech contest. The entry fee is five dollars which will be returned to you on the day of contest if you are ready and eligible on that day. Signed: _______________________________ (parent or guardian)

In other words, bring your five dollars to sign up. On the day of contest, you’ll get the five bucks back. If you don’t make it to contest, you won’t get the money back since the school will have to pay your entry fee anyway.
