Would God have given us a plan of salvation that was that difficult to understand? Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me." (John 14:6) "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners. Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." (Romans 10:9) Okay…next question. You may choose not to believe it, but if you do, what’s the difficulty in understanding it? You don’t need to buy another electronic gadget to figure out the most important thing in life…Salvation through Jesus Christ. This Thanksgiving let’s give thanks for the people in our lives who’ve showed us the way to salvation…simply…by what they said, by how they lived their lives. VICTORY IN JESUS Grandma Orr wasn’t poor but she had just one frying pan. One spatula. One television. One phone. One hairbrush…one Listerine bottle (hated gargling). One Buick. One tractor: Ford 8N. One husband, grandpa. One Lord. WINDOW ON MY WORLD…RICK Little lady in a retirement home in Jacksonville who while others complain of the troubles on the nightly news, sits each night and prays for every situation as she listens. Elderly lady in Arenzville…world’s largest collection of salt and pepper shakers… “I’m giving them away. Marie.” Collects people. A small group of people in a town near here who every Christmas eve take a slow prayer walk..or ride…around town. The simplicity of living a life with Jesus.. Lady..Jesus at breakfast table. Rick’s song… Funeral yesterday… “Make it upbeat, not sad,” …Then “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace” Retirement Home..Jimmy…laughing “I was just talking to God” Don’t Nobody… This Thanksgiving I dare to you turn off all electronic devices… to take the chance of not getting everything done… Don’t go to the store and get just one more dessert..you’ve already got enough……Make it a day of true Thanksgiving, simply giving thanks to God who made his message of salvation and hope so very simple…and to the people who taught you how to live it that way.
