Pray for the kids

Mts. Sterling Christian

Appeared in your church twice before… threatened both times. lst: Wedding… Bride Tammy Wynette’s Divorce Second: Cousin Mark Hill “For God’s sake, don’t go on and on.”

I only plan to speak here once. One dose of me is usually enough for any congregation. So I simply asked myself: if I had only one thing to say to you, what would it be?

(My testimony...... all because I had a grandmother praying for me.) (ironically… some of my wildest moments took place in Brown County. Timewell guy….)

We are what we are because of the prayers others have prayed in our behalf. Our children will be what they will be because of the prayers we now pray.

Two ladies: Billy Graham crusade.

Many of you are sitting here today because of the prayers of your grandmothers and grandfathers..... and your parents.

This morning’s Upper Room devotion: Paul writes to Timothy: “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, Lives in you.” Paul knew that it wasn’t something in the water. He knew that it was the prayers of Eunice and Lois that made Timothy.

I want to leave you with only one thing today... Keep it up. Keep praying for each other, and most particularly, the children of our community. The scripture doesn’t say that “The prayers of a mother are powerful.. “ or “The prayers of a father of grandfather are powerful...” It says “The prayers of a righteous man (person) are powerful..” That could be all of us.. Righteous: having been made right with God through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior and accepting the free forgiveness for our sins.

Make yourself a deal… for every minute worrying or getting angry… pray for youth. Even if you can’t always see what it does for them, you’ll be amazed at what it will do for you. The testimony of the Christian Church to the Mt. Sterling community will not be bake sales or church attendance or even youth programs.. It’ll be the amount you pray for the youth.

Triopia situation… prayers……

Pray for your Sunday School and its teachers… Ed Franklin Yemen

Dylan’s Travis…..

… do me a favor…The adults...In the collection plate .. slips of paper. Take one only if you wish. Put it on your refrigerator. ... on the sunvisor of your car, on your desk.

Frank Johnson... Ford 8N... most wonderful tool box on fender filled with poems and prayer lists.

If you don’t know of a specific child, ... Just pray for all of them. Begin your prayer with “Lord, who needs prayer today?” and He’ll tell you.

Pray for your grade schools… pray for Brown County High.. Pray for St. Mary’s.

In his letter to the Philippians, Paul wrote: Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Support your youth programs.. support your schools… volunteer.. do everything you know to do.. But if you want to see real change for the good among the young, pray for the youth.

Take it from someone who spends his days with the youth. … there was never a time when young people needed prayer more than today.
