On previous visits I’ve spoken to you.. told you all I knew Played for you.. the hymns I knew.. Ran out.. all that’s left are a few songs that I’ve written.

I suppose we could worship God without music, but I can’t imagine how.

I tend to write songs that don’t sound much like church songs.

BOMP ME… I envy people who say that they prayed and God spoke softly to them. I guess I’m stubborn or I don’t listen well. But sometimes God has to shout. Sometimes He’s got to do more than that… AFRAID: History of song.. originally part of a show I wrote.. Toad in the Hole. Debbie Boone. I’ve taught 12-year-olds for 30 years. They often talk about their fears.. strange how our fears change over the years but we still have fears. When I was five.. dogs.. 1st grade.. Grandma said to pray every step of the way. … we’re all afraid of things.. sickness, dying, getting across the street. This song has a simple solution.

Grandma… My great grandma’s diary.. “rose early this morning, gathered eggs and did the milking, brought in the horses from the pasture, scrubbed the upstairs floors, then woke the men for breakfast.” And she prayed. .. nearly every morning’s entry started with “This is just about the finest day ever.” Claude. “Still in shock over Claude.. but the sun rose bright this morning.. just about the finest day ever.”

Read book.. college course.. “Women are almost invisible in the Bible. Throughout the Christian tradition, most women have been relegated to praying.” Relegated to praying? This Present Darkness.

So many of us are here today because of praying Grandma’s. Lady roams the halls of our school every Thursday morning, notepad in hand, taking prayer requests to take back to a crew of praying mothers and grandmothers…

At camp, I ask.. “Two lines in Heaven…” Grandma is nearly always at the first of the line. Don’t Nobody Final song… If I could sum up my theology in one song, this would be it. Technically I don’t own it.. sold the rights to a nationally known Christian singer.. But, since it’s been 12 years and he still hasn’t paid for it…

It’s about joy.. the joy in knowing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Sometimes we Christians get an awful reputation for being stern-faced grouches. In the national media we’re known more for what we’re against, than what we’re for.
