Deb, Good chatting with you this morning. I consulted Google Maps and you were correct. You really do exist. …loks like about 3 ½ hours north of me. Looks like I might later be consulting you about a hotel for next year’s presentation. You’d mentioned that February or March might be a prime time, so here are a few possibilities. I know it’s a bit in the future, but my calendar tends to fill up…so as soon as you can peg a date, let me know and I’ll nail it down on my schedule. I teach an every-other-day schedule at a college since my retirement from the public school, and if I come to Mazon on a teaching day it’ll be at least 6:30 before I can arrive. …maybe a bit earlier. Possible dates: Feb 14, 16, 17, 20, 28. March 1, 5, 6, 8, 12, 14, 20, 22. Just let me know if any of those would work. I also have some Wednesdays free, but I think that you said you’d like to avoid those. I see where Lent begins on February 22 next year.
Sorry I was a bit fuzzy in my conversation this morning about what sort of presentations I do. That’s because I do a variety of things and try to tailor my presentation to the local school’s needs. Possible programs that I’ve done: (And of course I’ll need a piano for the musical programs) A Whirlwind Tour Through American Music… lots of fast, snappy stuff with some entertaining stories about where the song came from. This program also has lots of patriotism. Taking the Stress Out of Your Family Life….this is a non-musical program and is pretty much just as the title describes. Improv-Mania… This program is mainly for the kids with the adults as spectators. It teaches the basics of acting using Improv Games. Storytelling ….again, using a great deal of interactive Improv. I can take this program several ways, but I think in your situation a presentation on sharing family narratives might be the best.
I’m sure that this won’t be a factor, but you might want to make sure that you don’t advertise the event very far south. I work with a booking agent who charges $750 for my programs….which I think is ridiculous…and it’s best he not learn that I’m booking around him. Don’t worry..it’s all legal. ..just trying to keep the guy happy.
