Dear Speech Coach,

Okay..no, my kids aren’t ready either..Yes, I’d like to throttle a few… Yes, many have bitten off more than they should have been allowed to chew. .. and yes, they have no idea how close we are to contest time. But.. having said that… Enclosed you’ll find a copy of the schedule for the IESA speech contest to be held at Triopia on November 9th. If you have any changes, please email me at HYPERLINK "mailto:dramajok@frontiernet.net" dramajok@frontiernet.net or call the high school at 457-2281 and ask for Karel. We have stopwatches coming out the wazoo so there’s no need to bring one. Also, we’ll be having adult chairpersons in each room to lessen the number of things our judges are worrying about. I think I’ve secured a good bunch, borrowing heavily from the list that many of you have hired in past years. For those of you bring CP groups, we’re using a room just slightly larger than the average classroom..not huge, but about as big as we have available with decent acoustics. We’ll have a judges’ meeting at 7:30 in room 10. You are more than welcome to attend this meeting, hold up your hand, and shout wildly if I forget anything in the judges’ instructions. As you’ll see by the schedule, all judging will be finished just after noon. We’ll have the usual gruel for sale in the cafeteria, someone will be hawking IESA speech shirts, and our administrators will be looking for the referees. As always, I’d like to enlist your iron fists in order to keep it quiet in our hallways. All the contest rooms with the exception of one are located along the long, east-west hallway of Triopia. See ya on the 9th! And remember..miracles happen in the last week!
